This is a temporary position working on a project that will last from 6 - 9 months in the El Paso area, with potential for longer-term employment opportunity. There are multiple positions available. Job Title: Technology Cable Installer Wage/Hour Status: Hourly
Reports to: VP of Operations
Primary Purpose
Install various low voltage and fiber optic cable, twisted pair, CAT6, CAT5, and coax, risers and tie
cables, including termination, testing, labeling and documentation.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
High School Diploma/GED
Valid Driver’s License
Special Knowledge/Skills
• Ability to read blue prints
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment
• Excellent customer service and problem solving skills
• Ability to interact with other employees, vendors and clients.
Experience
Two (2) years related experience in commercial cabling installations including CAT5e, CAT6/A
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Installs cable pathways systems and backbone distribution systems.
2. Builds telecommunication and equipment rooms.
3. Installs fire stopping cable penetrations.
4. Grounds and bonds systems.
5. Tests, troubleshoots and prepares documentation for cabling systems.
6. Installs and troubleshoots basic fiber optic structured cable distribution systems.
7. Terminates, assembles and installs optical fiber LC and/or SC ceramic connectors.
8. Diagnoses and corrects basic optical fiber problems.
9. Performs basic site surveys under the guidance of the lead technician.

Tablet/laptop and mobile devices, basic hand tools, ladders, drills

Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Prolonged use of computer
and repetitive hand motions. Climbing, stooping, bending, pushing and kneeling; occasional heavy
lifting; frequent use of small hand tools and electronic test equipment; frequent Districtwide travel.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more.
